farming technology

Image
farming technology - is the used of  technology in agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture with the aim of improving yield, efficiency, and profitability.  EXAMPLE OF FARMING TECHNOLOGIES   agricultural drones irrigation biotechnology artificial intelligence livestock biometrics sensors  technology robotics geographic information system IMPORTANCE OF FARMING TECHNOLOGY reduce impact on natural ecosystems  advances in both pesticide and fertilizers reduce ground and surface water pollutions better food safety higher crop productivity increased worker safety

farming tools

Image
farming tools those are tools we use when farming. EXAMPLE OF FARMING TOOLS  hoes spade  rake axe wheelbarrow water can sprayer sprinkler THE USE OF FARMING TOOLS  used for irrigation planting field preparation sowing  harvesting storage  THE FUNCTION OF EACH FARMING TOOL WHEELBARROW- it`s used to transport piles of dirt, weed, or any other small load in the field. WATER CANS -used by gardeners for watering plants. HOE- used for loosening the soil and removing weeds. SPADE- used for digging straight-edged holes or trenches, slicing, and lifting sod, and edging flower beds or lawns. RAKE - used for scooping, scraping, gathering, or levering materials, such as soil, mulch and leaves. SPRINKLER-used to irrigate, or provide water, to plants. THE IMPORTANCE OF FARMING TOOLS Improved productivity reduced labor requirements  minimized crop damage  improved consistency and uniformity extended harvesting season enhanced safety

soil profiles

Image
soil profile - it`s a vertical section of the soil that depicts all the its horizons. the soil profile extends from the soil surface to the parent rock material. the regolith includes all of the weathered material within the profile. the soil profile is an important tool in nutrient management, by examining a soil profile, we can gain valuable insight into soil fertility. as the soil weather and/ or organic matter decomposes, the profile of the soil changes. on the  other hand, a highly fertile soil often has a deep surface layer that contains high amounts of organic matter.

types of soil

Image
soil -is the upper layer of earth in which plants grow, a black or dark brown material typically consisting of a mixture of organic remains, clay, and rock particles. t ypes of soil sandy soil clay soil loam soil characteristics of the sandy soil weak structure  poor water retention properties             high permeability highly sensitivity to compaction characteristics of clay soil hold large volume of water allows for root to hold tight to the soil, plant are likely to heave. retain minerals they are very slow to warm in spring and cool more slowly in autumn. characteristics of loam  well - draining, yet retains moisture well.      rich in nutrients has a slightly acidic to neutral pH. the texture is crumbly

Types of rocks

Image
Rocks -Is an aggregate of one or more minerals, or a body of undifferentiated mineral matter. Common rocks includes granite, basalt, limestone and sandstone. The table below illustrate the types of rocks

plant studies

Image
Plant processes -Those are natural projection or outgrowth from plant body or organ. The 5 different types of plant processes Photosynthesis- The process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. Respiration -The exchange of gases in the leaves, during respiration takes place through stomata. Transpiration -is the process of water movement through a plant and its evaporation from aerial parts, such as leaves, stems and flowers. Osmosis- water enters the root cells by osmosis and moves into tubes called xylem vessels to be transported to the leaves. Translocation- Is the movement of materials in plants from the leaves to other parts of the plant.

Livestock farming

Image
L ivestock farming is the raising of animals for use or for pleasure. Animals such as chicken, cows, pigs, goats, donkey, sheep and horse  Animals are farmed for their meat, hides, milk, Egg and as work animals.  Importance of livestock farming *Some produce manure fuse in the field. *Improve agricultural land biodiversity. *Skin from cattle, pigs, and sheep used to manufacture handbag, shoes and coats. *For fun and entertainment. *Animals are important for science and medicine. *for food security. *source of foreign exchange /income

plant farming

farming is the act or process of working the ground, planting seeds, and growing edible plants such as spinach, cabbages, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions and tomatoes  spinach 🥬🥬🥬 spinach is a cool-season vegetable that prefers sunny locations and fertile, well-drained soil. how to grow spinach * Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep. *2-3 weeks before the last frost in the spring, thin seedlings or transplant spinach to 3 inches apart in the row with rows 12 inch apart,  NB: Spinach is rich in many nutrients, including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, folate, and potassium. It also adds some protein to your diets. potatoes                                        carrot sweet potatoes  cabbage
